WARNING: UFO: Aftershock no-DVD Patch v1.2
The no-cd patch v1.2 is obviously not v1.2, but 1.1
Three facts I tested hint to this statement: 1) The AGILITY/DEXTERITY swap bug has been introduced in official patch 1.1 and fixed again in official patch 1.2 (it is back with no dvd crack 1.2) 2) With patch 1.2 it is possible to use throwing weapons (in 1.1 and the no dvd crack 1.2 it is not possible) 3) With patch 1.2 it is possible to use dual close combat weapons with a ranger lev2 (with 1.1 and the no dvd crack 1.2it was not possible) Summary: With the 1.2 no dvd crack none of the bugs that have been fixed with official 1.2 patch are fixed, so it is identical with official 1.1 NOT official 1.2 |

Yeah, this is kind of strange. I wonder why the guy/girl who made the no DVD-patch didn't mentoin it correctly (that it is 1.1).
I am desperately waiting for a no DVD patch, because I tried this one out, and it dramatically improves load and save times in the game (but I don't want to play 1.1, because of the DEX/AGI swap bug). In addition, Starforce needs about 2 minutes on my laptop to check if the original DVD is in the DVD drive... |

yikes, long time to check, 2mins from the real CD/DVD ? If so, im guessing the DVD-Drive you have is a slower one?
I would not mind SF if they would actually speed things up a bit, seems each version takes longer and longer to check, so far I have not had any issues with other games such as X3- Reunion, loads right up both from image and real DVD. |
