The Sims game help
hi
i recently reinstalled The Sims (the first one) and just installed the last one The Sims Makin' Magic and when i was playing it the game crashed onto the desktop i have read the game help file and i says its a problem with DirectX but i have the latest DirectX (9.0c nov release) and the latest driver for my graphic card by the way: my graphic card NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100\200 and i have just updated to a XP SP3 beta using the no-cd fix from this site |

Could be just missing a directx dll, Making Magic only requires DX7 or higher so should work fine.
You can try however (and make sure you backup just in case something goes wrong) Open REGEDIT and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX Delete the key for DirectX then reboot. This will make windows think DirectX is no longer there and it should reinstall DirectX when you reboot. If your not using a Slipstream disc, it will install DirectX 8.1, then from there get the "webinstaller" version of DirectX 9 and run it, it should download all the latest DirectX 9 files and will reinstall DX 9 completly. Also, try a different GFX Driver. |

thanks for the info mate i will try them and see if they work also am planning to sell my pc am using now and get another one sometime a better one for games also i recently upgraded to XP SP3 beta (3205) do you think that it something to do with a patch included in SP3
