Final Fantasy 7 tech HELP!! PLEASE!

I just downloaded FF7 and when I go to play it, it gets to the
"NEW GAME/LOAD GAME" screen and then freezes! Does anybody know a way to possibly fix the problem/ work around it?

yes, there is a workaround, it is called buying the game legally...
