Default What is a video card?

I recently purchased a game called Medal of Honor Pacific Assault. I tried installing it, but it came up with a message that said: Medal of Honour Pacific Assault requires a video card that fully supports DirectX 8.1. I was wondering, what is a video card? Do you have to buy a video card or is it something that you can download? Anyones help would be much appreciated.

Goto Start Menu > Run

Type: DXDIAG
(press enter after typing it)

Then look on the Display Tab, it will show what video card you have.

And yes, you have to buy one if yours is out of date.
