My game has a scratch on the back and wouldn't complete the download. I don't want to buy a whole new disc. anyway to fix this.

Downloading the game regardless if you own it is illegal. You will need to contact the company who made the game to see if they can replace the damaged disc or, you can try to repair the scratch yourself.

You can purchase CD/DVD Scratch Repair kits online. You may also try wood polish such as Old English. If you live here in the USA, Pledge can sometimes work, most liquid based polishes contains a type of wax which can fill scratches while remaining transparent (see through) allowing the disc to be read by the CD/DVD drive normally. Scratches often are an indirect cause of read errors. What I mean is, when a scratch is on the disc, the actual data lay inside the plastic portion of the disc may not be damaged at all, but the laser bounces in odd directions and never bounces back to the CD/DVD lens for reading. Filling the scratch with a transparent polish wax can most times resolve the issue making the laser straight in path again instead of bouncing around other directions.
