Playing Age of Empires 3 online

I recently got AoE 3 and wanted to play online. Whenever I start to matchmake, it says the IP address is invalid. I've made exceptions in the Firewall to the AoE 3 game, uPNP framework, and Xfire, and it doesn't matter. What is it that is blocking this game?

Are you using a Router? If so, you will need to forward ports to the machine your playing from in order for the game to connect to matchmaker correctly. Check the games support section on the website to find out which ports you need to forward.
