Trouble with a no cd patch

I recently got Star wars empire at war and forces of corruption and promptly installed it on my hard drive before going over to game copy world, and then here. Neither site's fix worked and the game will not even start with them applied the program will run for a few seconds and there will be a flicker of a frame like from a program and that is it. I also tried it with one other no cd patch i found online which netted the same result. Anybody know how to fix this if at all?

have you tried a cd image and mounting it with a virutal drive program e.g daemon tools
