When ever i try and install my sims 2 university (on disc one) at around 14% it says "a problem occured when trying to transfer the file "TSDATA\Res|Sound\Misc.package' from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file,or cancel the installation." If i hit retry it doesnt work. I tried restarting computer, change cd drive, and then i tried on my other computer but same thing. Does anyone know why it is doing this or is my cd messed up.

thanx

have you tried making an image using something like Alcohol 120% and installing from images mounting on a virtual drive?

Also, check these links:

You may also want to uninstall the Sim 2, do a defrag of your hard drive, reboot, install sims 2 (dont run it though) then try installing university.

could be the prob, you can get a scratch repair kit from most electronic stores for fairly cheap and may be able to use it to fill in the scratch at least to get it working without error, then make an image and store it in a safe place, use the image made to run the game to prevent the disc from being damaged further.
