crashing to desktop...?

hey im not sure if this was covered or not... so please dont be harsh about it, just give me the link to get to there. :) my problem is that when i play bf1942, i can play the main game, and most other mods, but when i try to play mods like DCFX: JA1a, DCR Final, or Wasteland 2042, they act like they are loading the map, then i hear a wonderful windows error sound, and it goes to the desktop...? this also happens when i go to play the BF2 map packs, 1 and 2. i run, [...and please dont close topic because of this!!!], a no-cd fix on both games... I OWN BOTH OF THEM!!! i just dont like to put all the cds in all the time... could THIS be making it exit? [and if you do lock this topic, please just tell me if thats the problem and how i could maybe fix it...? :confused: possibly without the use of my cds? ] thanks!:D

could be because of no-cd, but are those maps mod maps? could be something wrong with them, have you tried a clean install of BF142?

And why would we be harsh to you or close the topic? lol :) We are not evil, unless you start talking about pirate software/keys :P

and I know you said or seem to be stating that it is only those maps, but have you tried updating drivers, or even trying an older driver for your video/sound?

[i tried the same thing on other sites and they just said: "isnt that illegal??? LOCKED" :( ...by the way, i know most people arent evil, its just that select few who have problems with people discussing their troubles.]

yah, if you arent familiar with those mods, they do sport modded maps to go along with the idea of that certain mod.

i have the latest version of bf1942 [1.61b]. actually, i just reinstalled it because there was an annoying frame around the menu...? [its gone now.:)]

i also reinstalled all of the mods too... Forgotten Hope, Eve of Destruction, BF1918, and BF Pirates. these all work. [along with BF2 Nights.]

i dont know exactly where to get an older version of my video card driver...? i have an ATI Radeon 9600.

i got the newest version of my driver and it still doesnt work. :(

my sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster PCI512. [dont think thats the problem though.]

hmm, to start, see if you have Media Player 10 installed (Add and Remove Programs, check show updates)

If so, uninstall it, has been known to cause probs with alot of things, not just games.

Next, uninstall thrird party Codecs, such as DivX. (Can always reinstall it if you want, this is just to rule it out as being the problem)

I really don't keep track of ATI, so not sure where they list archives drivers, checked the Official site a bit, didnt see anything "off hand" so I didn't dig much further.

I am sure you can check sites such as http://www.majorgeeks.com and find some older and new ones however.

thanks for all the help. but i still cant get just those select few mods to work... i still dont know why...? i reinstalled the driver, i uninstalled WMP10 [and all the codecs], but none of these worked. i give up! oh well, thanks for trying to help! :)
