Does using a sims 2 mini image not let you use custom skins

When you try to create a sim in create a family i cant click on custom skin tone. The icon is there but when i clack it it doesnt work? Is this because im using the mini image and not my origonal cd?

I checked that before but i couldnt find anything about custom skins?

Should be able to use custom skins, be sure they are in the correct location, and be sure when you load the game to check for allowing custom content, some newer versions will ask if you want to allow some content to run that could be possibly not compatible, you would have to select yes to run them anyways.

How do you use custom skins? Do you have to get them from the sims2.com thing or could make your own from inside the game.

ive gotten mine from various sites I found while searching google, not just from ea, but Ea has a very large assortment!. To install them, you place them in the my documents/yourname/ea/sims 2 location, there will be a folder to place addons in.
