Hoodlum did not actually crack it DuffMan... It was an April Fool's Day joke actually.
We'll have to wait looooong till we get a crack on this one. Brand new version of Starforce.

Sure there were Crypton, sure there were.
I've read on other forums, that this new version of Starforce is really hard to crack, and even disables Alcohol's feature of DPM measurement. I just don't get it though, companies are allowed to disable features of other programs? Even though some use Alcohol for piracy purposes, there are the ones who just use it for their own personal backup purposes.
However, I saw that one managed to get a DPM measurement (that is, he did it before installing the game) and made an MDS file. After that, you have to make your own image from the SC:CT DVD without the DPM measurement, and replace the MDS created with the one posted on that forum. Then, you'd burn it with RPMS emulation on, and insert it on a DVD USB drive, and disabling all other IDE optical drives with Starforce Nightmare. Hell of a fuss, I say.
I'm not going to buy a new USB drive just for SC:CT, although I know more games are to follow. I'm just going to wait patiently, I'm sure solutions will arise.

yes, it does do that, but not permanantly, only when the game is running, it basically changes it during run, then returns it back when the game is closed.
However, using permissions in the system registry, you can keep it from doin that. Lemme find my write up on it and I will post it.
(well I will have to write it over, ill post it in the correct section of the forums when I have had time to complete it.)
There is a somewhat dodgy post about it on cdfreaks, though its not complete and for alot of people it does not work. This could be also another way protections such as SecuROM 7 have been able to bypass the permissions in the registry Though I am unsure as of yet, I have been playing around and monitoring my registry running different games such as Project Snowblind, but have not yet been able to find out if it is bypassing it or using another method.
I might have to run it via Virtual PC as it may have already set something in my registry allowing it to gain access that maybe I am missing. Hmm, :) Didn't think of that till now.

Just wait for Alcohol to release a new version.
A Mini Image for this game has been submitted, not sure how good it works:

I don't see how it would work. I don't know if the MDS file contains the right DPM measurement, but the MDF file is completely blank, not even the table of contents of the DVD.

I just scanned the file and it says according to the results 100% Topology Quality, of course since I do not have the game, I cannot compare it to the origional CD, but it at least contains RMPS/DPM info, so if anyone has used it and it works or does not work, let us know :)

Okay, Crypton, I confirm what you say, MDS is an 100% pure and correct DPM measurement.
So people, the only way you can get this to work is as follows:
1. Download and extract the mini-image from GameBurnWorld.
2. Make an image of your original Splinter Cell Chaos Theory DVD (4,17GB), WITHOUT DPM measurement.
3. Get the MDF file created from your original DVD image, and replace the one contained in the mini-image zip, so now you'll have the mini-image MDS, and the full-image MDF.
4. Go to Alcohol, select the MDS file, enable RMPS, and burn it at 1x.
5. The disk you'll get must be inserted in a USB 2.0 DVD drive (sometimes, SCSI or IDE drives connected to USB through an adaptor will work), after you have disabled all other IDE optical drives through Starforce Nightmare.

well I broke down and bought the game, tested it with the released MiniDisc with blank .MDF file and 100% RMPS .MDS
It does not need the contents of the CD to work, as it is not checking that, it is checking the invisible stuff you do not see on the CD, which is included in the .MDS file that was released in the mini image.
However...
to get it working in ths manor I had to use this registry edit.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices]
Right click the section and choose persmissions.
Click on Administrator, then click DENY for READ ACCESS (only read access not full control)
This helps prevent/remove blacklisting.
Pure case of blacklisted emulation software detection, nothing more, nothing less.

be sure to turn all emu options on
Alcohol sometimes does not work on some games, check to be sure you enable RMPS in options from the menu up top in alcohol as well

ya, I think buying the game might be a good idea, and for future reference we do not support "warez/pirated" software/games here. In case you may have missed the forum rules, you can find a link to it in my signature at the bottom of my posts.

Drenskin, if you can't even play the game with the original DVD, you should contact Ubisoft.

If it is saying disable virtual drives it means completly close the virtual drive application, not disable it so it has no virtual drives, simply close the program, and make sure it is not longer running in the system tray located to the lower right of your screen (near the time/clock)
And if that still does not work even with your origional DVD, then do as DarkLeftos said and contact UBISoft Suport

I think it is sad that someone who has forked out there hard earned money has to disable and even delete/remove programs that they have every right to install on thier PC. Is it even legal for another program to interfere with another program? it's a form of mallicious attack in what StaForce and such are doing.

Petitions are signed here and there, complain- and hate-mails are sent every day to companies about that issue, but nothing is done. They just keep blacklisting more programs and back-up methods every day.
It won't be long until the USB drive method used for many games gets blacklisted as well.
