You can bypass the SecuROM 7 with the registry/permissions hack.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi

set Administrator permissions to deny your Virtual Drive (varies with your computer so check each or deny to the entire group).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices

set Administrator permissions to deny access there too

(to completely deny access you must go into advanced and uncheck the box for 'inherit from parent the permission...' and when given the option, choose 'copy' and then apply and ok.

also, change the parameters/name of your virtual drive as the default names given by Daemon Tools is blacklisted.

I used this on both of my computers, which both have fresh installs of XP. It did not work on them before the fresh install as there were most likely something else preventing it. Enjoy.

AntiBlah should work then, uses subinacl, it will do the same job, but resets on reboot so it will only be permanant while the OS stays in the current boot session.

Did it not work for you? Strange if not as it covers all SCSI ports.

AntiBlah batch code:

subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 0" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 1" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 2" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 3" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 4" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 5" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 6" /deny=administrators=r
subinacl.exe /keyreg "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 7" /deny=administrators=r

Is there any way someone could post step-by-step instructions on how to crack this game? I am new to all of these programs and have downloaded Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, Anti-Blah, SR7 Stop, Anti-Blaxx and probably some other stuff, and I still can't get it to work. Please, could someone just start at installation and help me through this?

Thanks in advance,
The Kris

Follow this guide. As far as making an image of the DVD, use Alcohol 120% and copy at the slowest speed your drive runs, make sure to enable RMPS in Alcohol 120% options.

Well, I went through the entire walkthrough, even creating a new image of the disc, like you suggested.

When that didn't work, I tinkered around a little bit. Still nothing working. The error message is "Please remove disc from current CD/DVD drive and insert the original "BattlefrontII" disc in drive D:."

Any ideas?

EDIT: If it helps, I have the CD version of the game.

EDIT 2: Tried using the .mdf instead of the .mds, and now it tells me "Please insert the original disc instead of a backup. See http://www.securom.com/no_orig_found for more details."

For regular CD and not DVD, you will need to select SecuROM *NEW* for the datatype when you make the copy in Alcohol 120%, enable RMPS as well, I should have mentioned that before.

Alright so Ive been to a number of places and have installed the game, mounted the mini image using alcohol 120%, used sr7stop to hide the drives, exited that and played the game...

And it loads, however the game crashes whenever it loads a level. I can make my user name, watch the tutorial of how to fight in space, but it crashes to the desktop when i try to load a map and play a level.

Could this be a corrupt file somewhere or is there a fix for this? Please Help!

Sounds like the MiniDisc is working then, and could possibly be a corrupt file, however, it can be a number of other things, make sure to update the drivers on your system, also, uninstall any 3rd party codecs such as DivX

If you have Windows Media Player 10 installed and any 10 series codecs, goto add/remove programs and uninstall, this will rollback Media Player to version 9.

After doing that, reboot and try again.

I have media player 10 but windows media player doesnt show up in the program list when i do add/remove programs and the codec doesnt either.

By updating drivers do you mean just graphics card drivers or could there be other things?

Make sure to check the checkbox that says "show updates" upper right side of the screen in add/remove programs.

Yep, including Graphics, Sound, Chipset.

I made a new image file, mounted it, have done everything suggested, and it's still telling me to insert the original. =(

Any ideas?

What version of SecuROM is on this title btw?

Use A-Ray Scanner to check the exe.

Like I said originally... I had tried every tuturial, and tool that I could find to beat this... I have played, and now beat this game, along with 3 of the Galaxy Conquests... with my backup copy. My way works, 100%.

On your PC it works, but like I said.. It does not work on everyone's machine. There is many topics about this not working on some machines, not just here, Daemon-Tools ect.. and I think they would know alot about copy protection and even they know it does not work on every machine.

SecuROM and other protections "react" differently on different PC setups. Because of the "dirty" tricks they use to blacklist some machines it will not work on, but on some SecuROM does it's job as it is supposed to, your just one of lucky few that can emulate this version the easy way. your backup method wont work 100% on every system out there.

I just figured the fresh install of XP was the key. I had all of the different tools installed and tried. None of them worked, then this way worked on every game I tried it on... just saying. :)

yep I know, a good example, my wifes machine, almost identical to mine, fresh installed her OS as well, also thought that may be needed to get some games working with an image, but with no luck.

My PC, the above you posted works, which is the one I have been using for almost all my games using SecuROM 7. SafeDisc method is about the same, but there are a few games which won't run on even mine atm without using the alernate longer method, minus running as a different account.

But seeing as even on my wifes system it doesnt work, so had to dig up some ways to get it working, and found that using a new account to run with limited access and denying access to reading the registry sections for administrators accounts worked on hers.

There are tons of other methods as well,

StarForce is a really good example of one that is a pain to get working for eveyone. Not only are you fighting against blacklisting and their dirty ways of implementing protection, but your also fighting against compatibility. It has gotten better, but far from being something I want on my machine.

Well, hopefully DT4 will be out very soon and hopefully it solved the issues, it is becoming a pain finding new ways to prevent blacklisting.

but by all means, I am not saying your method is bad.. I use that myself and it does work, just not for everyone.

Another note, not everyone has a CD/DVD Drive that can make a good 1:1 image. Most will come here expecting the methods posted to work, but will be out of luck and always ask why, then blame it on the methods not working when they are not even 100% sure they have a good image made. So for anyone reading and trying to make a image and not been able to make a good copy, there are guides posted about making images, recommended speeds, ect. But really, your hardware will be different, so you must play around with settings, different speeds, ect.. It may take you making an image 20 times before you get a working copy.. And even experienced users sometimes will take a few times before getting a good image. Ther is no perfect guide to making working images, it will solely depend on your system, CD/DVD-Rom/RW Brand, capabilities, ect..

Generic DVD-Rom from Freds supermart probably won't be the best choice of a drive to use for making images in other words.

Lite-On, NEC, ect are able to make working copies, Plextor as well, but Plextor is a bit higher in price than the others and really, not needed as some of the cheaper models will work, you just have to find their "sweet spot" or good speed.

well said.

I feel like I jinxed myself... I just bought the new Matrix - Path of Neo... and now I'm having to play with it more than the others. Still can't get the backup to work. I'll be sure to post when I find a way.

ooh, tell me how the game is? Not checked it out myself, looked a bit like Max Payne, but may be an understatement, lemme know if it good however.

As far as the protection, is a bit older than some of the new ones of SecuROM, Try slow speed, 2x, only enable RMPS during the copy process and enable it of course when you mount the image.
