Godfather 2 d3dx9_40.dll

I am trying to install Godfather 2 but get error message saying it cant find file d3dx9_40.dll?

Can someone please help?

Actually to clarify...it doesnt need an install. I am trying to play it direct from a file.

Explain to me: what doesn't need install? After that I might be able to give you some answers. Also post your OS, CPU, videocard and how much RAM do you have. Based on all those, a helpful answer might come out.

"d3dx9_40.dll" Is a directX file, the game wont start because the game can't find it. To get it to run you must install direc X. A installation file shpuld be on the game's disk.
