First I got the DVD version and copied over DEViANCE's no cd fix. It will show the quake 4 box, then the screen will go blank and it will exit out. I tried many different no cd fixes and the same thing. Then I got a hold of the cd version, but the same thing happend. Any ideas what could be wrong? Everything else is working fine.

i mounted the game with alchohol and installed the no cd patch from this site
i dont get no probs now

Yeah i cant get it to run.

How do I create a minidisk, or image to mount? Im new to this.

You can use Alcohol 120%, Blindwrite, or CloneCD to make working images. I would suggest either alcohol 120% or Blindwrite however.

If you want to make a minidisc, after making an image of the game, test it the same way you would any game, mount to daemon-tools turn on all emulation options, and be sure the game works.

If it works, use MiR also found on tools section of http://www.gameburnworld.com and it can turn the working full game image into a working minidisc. (will be around 25MB if you do the MiR method)

I had *exactly* the same symptoms/problem. Bizarrely, it turned out to be an audio driver problem, nothing to do with the no-CD - it seems Quake 4 is looking for the OpenAL sound library/driver.

Even if you're not using a Creative soundcard (I'm not, but this fix worked for me), try downloading and installing OpenAL (http://www.openal.org/downloads.html).

Glad to help. I've just finished FEAR - a bit easier than I expected, but still very gripping and spooky. Now on to Quake 4...
