View Full Version : DX9 games on DX10

I have a little issue
can i play DX9 games on DX10 (I have DX10 Compatible Graphic Card)
So now i am thinking to shift on Windows VISTA so i wanna know that whether i will be able to play my DX9 games on VISTA or not?

Mostly, yes. Some no. Or it might not worth the trouble making those work on Vista. Officially, Windows 7 is out next year. So Id' rather wait for that one. That version will bring also DirectX 11. So, it's a process to wait and see about backward compatibility(everybody appreciated that on XP and it might be back in the Windows7).

what games are you trying to run i've only run into a few i cant play on vista like 1 out of over a hundred, throw out a couple names and i might be able too tell you if they will play on vista and DX10.

Ok it means i will have a problem playing some of them

XForsakenX : there are the names like (hitman NFS Scarface etc)
wolfsrain : then will we need the DX11 Compatible card for windows 7?

Not necessarily. I think it's going to be a transition period. Hell, most people are still on XP, using DirectX 9.0c. If you remember, it was also a long transition period from DirectX 6 to DirectX 8 and from DirectX 8 to DirectX 9.0c. I don't see why things would be any different now.

Hit man should play not sure about the other 2 dont have them for pc.
better off anyways to just stick with XP right now, easyer that way.
