There's just a part missing to your guide. The game will work that way with either the original or a backed up DVD of the game in the drive. For a full no-disc experience, you need to make an image of the original DVD to your hard-drive.
EDIT: Thread moved to the Game File Request/Locator forum, since it's a no-disc solution.

EDIT: Thread moved to the Game File Request/Locator forum, since it's a no-disc solution.
I believe it fits both help and nocd categories.. It is instruction on getting it to work, only I attached the files while they were not on the site yet.

Gah Crypton, why oh why have you turned off your PMs? ;-)
Anyway, sorry for moving your thread without asking for your permission. But I'll just give my humble opinion here, no offence meant.
Game File Request/Locator should be the forum where all no-disc posts are made, either tutorials, either files that aren't on the site, or links, or whatever.
Game Help should be a mostly troubleshooting forum, anything non-no-disc related, so that there is a clear distinction (was that the right word?) between those two forums.
No offence Crypton and DuffMan, I didn't mean to judge your work or anything. I'm just giving my two cents.

Gah Crypton, why oh why have you turned off your PMs? ;-)
Each day, I get a few PM's requesting help, or requesting something such as a nocd file, repost, ect.., is the ultimate reason for turning it off. I had warned them I would ignore them and start blocking, but they either don't read or don't listen. Was easier to turn it off rather than starting making a huge blocklist. So now ill enable it when im expecting a reply from someone or send a pm and again waiting for a reply.
And np, just can feel like a personal attack, when peeps get together to help others it can start feeling like one person may be stepping on someone elses toes and then can end up feeling like one is doing a personal attack on someone elses post.
Just want to make sure its not that and don't want it to be that. My help is in no way going to be perfect and never will be always 100%, I know that, but I don't need it to be pointed out for me, if you can understand where I am coming from.
No harm, its cool, I have to find another game to play now, I beat Fahrenheit about 20min btw.
I have had the game less than 48 hours and already 0o,. course I played a while when I got it and been playing the past few hours now.
Time to try to make the story different however, going to load up some chapters and try different views of doing things, I did the good ending, ect.., I wont ruin it for anyone, but its a pretty decent game. Definately a different twist to gaming in all.

Hello,
I have a little problem using the tetrisemu. I did everything as described by you but it's not "really" working. I can start the game and create an account. When I start a new game, the intro is running. In the intro "toilet scene" (when the bald man is going to wash his hands), the game crashes without any error message and all I see is my desktop. I tried a lot (quit any unecessary tasks etc.) but it always crashes at the same moment. Perhaps anyone of you has any idea what to do? As I can see in some forums nobody else has the same problem I have so I hope you can help me...thanks in advance...Janne

What video card are you using and what version of drivers?
Also, you may want to check and uninstall any Video Codecs you may have installed. Such as Quicktime, Realplayer, Divx, XVid, ect..
These can often get corrupt registry entries when various codecs are installed that take over something that another codec was using before. This can lead to weird behavior, especially in games.
the codecs used by the system itself for playing the videos for this game is Bink (Bink & Smacker) from RAD Tools.
Many codecs can conflict with others working properly even if they do not directly interact or play the same types of files. It is more or less a registry issue. So uninstalling will ensure that another codec will not try to load upon starting media playback.

thank you for answering so fast...
I have a ATI9800pro and latest (official) drivers installed. Will try to uninstall the unnecessary video-codecs when I'm at home but i can't imagine that this is the problem...I think there have been some games so far using BINK and there were no problems at all. As I can see you ul a no-intro fix. Perhaps this will work for me...
Thank you again for your advice...will try both methods later and post if it's working (hope so ;-))
Crypton

yeah, some games may work fine, it really depends on how they are coded to use the media playing fucntions. Some will use their own built in functions while others rely on meda player that is included in windows.
It can make a huge difference when playing back video for a game. So in other words, all your others may work fine atm, but they are all coded differently and some will rely on their own built in functions while others may depend on windows including codecs ift may have or was shipped with. (such cases as alot that use Windows Media Codec 8, example would be Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2006 Season which uses Media Player and Media 8 Series Codec from MS, shipped standard with XP)
but, it could be something wrong with the exe and conflicting with your system, so my above post may be way off or right on target, just have to see what results you get, just lemme know.

I tried everything you told me - it's not working until now. NoIntroFix is only cutting the trademark-videos (nvidia, atari etc.) but the game intro is still running. And again - if the bald man will wash his hands it seems that my computer is stucking for a sec and then...desktop. Tried to use another language - not working. Don't know what to do anymore. Perhaps anyone of you could start a new game (if possible LoginName: Janne ;-) ) and send me the savegame saved in first possible moment to save. Then I could see if it's only a part of the intro not running or something else. Thanks in advance...Janne
Crypton
23-09-2005, 01:41 AM
that part is the intro to the main game when a new game is started, I only cut the intro's leading to the games main menu.
I will create a new game using that name and post the data.
Sound like it is definately a video issue however.
Crypton
23-09-2005, 02:17 AM
Here ya go Janne
copy the folder atari to My Documents keeping the folder structure, it contains the savegame profile for Janne
The other videos I cannot do much about atm, they are built into the main game files (all the BigFile_PC.xxx files)

good morning...
It's running ;-) But you will not believe what the problem was. Yesterday i read the official readme.txt of Fahrenheit and there was an advice to defrag your harddrives before installing the game. I couldn't believe that this was the problem i had, but it was my "last hope". So i defraged my harddrives overnight, installed the game again (for the 5th time i think) and after seeing the intro for the 15th time...it was running.
I really never thought that this was the problem...but you live and learn every day ;-)
Thank you again for every advice you gave me...I think you also never thought that THIS could be the reason...
Away for the next hours playing...i really deserved it ;-)
Crypton
23-09-2005, 07:00 AM
lol, ya defragging your hard drives every couple of weeks is a good idea.. Simplest things can cause problems, especially when the heads on the drive have long access times (delays) due to trying to find all the pieces of one file in order to read the data, which in your case, explains why it seemed to "lockup" when playing the cutscenes.

Now, mount the "Image" of the actual game cd on Daemon-Tools, then start the game using the shortcut (desktop or start menu)
If you do not have an image of the game already, you will need to make one using Alcohol 120%.

It's against the forum to speak about warez, I believe.
And yeah, I made a backup of Fahrenheit, and when I mount, everything seems ok, but when I click the game icon, it says: Please Insert Fahrenheit DVD, when there is one inserted, and Tetris remains inactive. Any help would be appreciated.

Please read the forums rules, for ease of use and your own convenience there is a link in my signature.
Please do not post regarding pirate copies again, you only get 1 warning then a ban is placed, which can be temporary or permanent depending on my mood at the time. Go buy the game! The devs worked hard to make the game and deserve to profit off it.

You made a backup of Fahrehiet, what did you use to burn it? it may be the read/burn process that is causing the error, it's impossible to burn a 1:1 of this game.
Lucas_K
30-09-2005, 02:41 AM
Yeah, maybe you're right, cuz I just ripped the files. I guess we need to wait for a No-DVD Crack to make backups. But still, I tryed the .tdf on the original, it gives me the same thing. And the disk is inserted. So what's the problem?
Crypton
30-09-2005, 05:03 AM
As Duffman had asked, Which program are you using to copy/burn the game? you may want to try Blindwrite as alcohol 120% is not able to copy Tages at this time, Blindwrite will have problems as well, but you may have better success using it for this game. If you are just taking the files off the CD and then making a custom CD, it will not work that way, you will need to copy with such program as blindwrite in order to copy the protection that is hidden on the CD.
Lucas_K
30-09-2005, 10:51 PM
Uh... ok. But like I said (got ignored) I used also the regular disk, and mounted the .tdf, and it still asks for DVD. What up with that?
Crypton
01-10-2005, 03:57 AM
Uh... ok, if you inserted your "regular disk" then why do you need to mount a tdf?
And your ignoring the question we asked you, what program are you using to make a copy of your game to your Hard Drive?
Lucas_K

i have a problem:

is a problem of the iso or of the program?
Crypton
03-10-2005, 11:25 PM
Maybe the image, possibly a bad copy, but can also be the program itself, does it do the same thing from the Origional CD? If not then it is most definately a bad image (iso)
It can be many things, but lets start with this.
Locate the Temp folder on your computer.
Note Typically, this folder is located in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings, where User Name is your user name.
2. Right-click Temp, and then click Properties.
3. Under Attributes, click to clear the check box for Read-only.
Note The Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box may appear (this behavior depends on the contents of your Temp folder). If this dialog box appears, click Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files, and then click OK.
4 Click ok to close the properties box
5. Do the same if you see a folder name Tmp as well in that location.
Now try installing the game again.
If that does not work,
You may need to try making another copy (Recommend Alcohol 120%) But that does not garantee it will work, as your drive may also have problems reading the CD itself.
you can check to see if all files are readable on the "ISO", mount it in a Virtual CD drive (any will do)
Then make a new folder on your desktop. Name it whatever you want, then open the drive for the ISO you mounted, select all files on the "Virtual CD", then select "Copy"
Right click on the new folder you made, select "Paste"
If all files copy correctly without any error message such as Cylic Redundancy Check Errors, then it may very well be the installer having conflicts with something on your system.
If this is the case, make sure to disable any running programs, anything in the System Tray such as "Winamp Agent", Disable any Virus Scanner programs such as Norton, close them as well (If possible)
Press CTRL + Alt + DEL, look on processes tab, any items you see that are programs you have installed, right click and end task, (DON'T close anything such as explorer.exe, svchost.exe, ect.. Those are System Tasks and needed to be running)
Then try to install again (Assuming you copied the files from the CD and got no errors)

Try Daemon-Tools 4.. Alcohol 120% is not the greatest for emulating images.
Also, is your origional game on DVD? The TDF file is for the DVD Copy and I know there is also a standard CD copy of the game.

Try uninstalling Daemon-Tools and reinstalling (including removing/reinstalling the SPTD Drivers) See DT Site for info on doing that. Sometimes I have found something to stop working and doing that resolved the issues.

I did everything mentioned in this thread, but still it gives one or other error.
I have used the tetris, pointed .tdf, mounted the mini image.
But when i try to run it, i get a bad image error stating that *.dll file is not a valid window image. This error gets repeated for all the dll files for the game one after other.
i tried to rename the .dll files as .iso then it takes 3 or 4 sec then it displays application error(fahreheit.exe) stating that it tried to reference a certain memory location.
Please tell me what does it mean?

You must be doing something wrong. The crrack in the link it's the one that I use.
Are you sure that you have the European version of the game(the US version is called The Indigo Prophecy and it's very censored)?
Try uninstalling the game. Reinstall it. Apply patch. Apply crack(overwrite the needed files-you'll see them in the crack archive). Start the game through the new exe file.

Yes i m using the euro version.
The problem i believe is that the driver executable is not running properly.
During the installation when it is called it displays a message

Even after installation it flashes the same message when i click on DrvSetup.exe
or DrvSetup_v64.exe.

DVD-ROM: 8X DVD ROM

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
DirectX Version: 9.0c
I guess you cam see your problem. The onboard videocards are not supported by the game. You need a full fledged videocard from Nvidia or ATI. No crack or patch would make this game start. Most of the developers are giving up on the support for the integrated videocards. Dunno why.
Buy an 8800GS from Nvidia(good companies are EVGA, Gainward, BFG). It's the best bang for the buck. I'd stay away from ATI until the nextgen products are out.
