I've got SimCity 3000 UK Edition for Windows here, and I'm trying to get it working reasonably seamlessly on my Linux system. I have it running in a virtualized Windows 2000 using VirtualBox. I used unSafeDisc to decrypt the executable, and it seems to work but the CD check is still in place. I'd like to not use the CD because it's inconvenient and won't last forever.

Hence, I'm looking for a way to rip an ISO good enough to fool the executable, or a no-CD patch that will work with SimCity 3000 UK Edition. Ripping the ISO seems like hard work (K3b has massive problems with it, detecting a multitude of bad sectors and moving at a glacial pace) while I've never found any no-CD patches for this version of SimCity 3000.

Incidentally, I also posted this earlier at FileForums and got a particularly rude and insulting response from a moderator there. When I responded in kind, I got this: "take a break cool down, and next time think twice about insulting moderators.. 1 week ban." Are they known for pulling s..t like that?

Yes, they are very strict about the rules. Please refrain from using swearing and flaming and everything will be fine. Unfortunately, there is no cracked exe for your exe and it's not likely that is going to be one. Try making a mini-image or a full image of the game on your HDD and mount it in Daemon Tools(I understand that you use a Win2k in Virtual Box, so you should be able to run Daemon Tools in the same manner)

The problem isn't in mounting the image, the problem is making the image in the first place. K3b couldn't seem to handle the task, so I'm asking what would be best to do that.

Edit: To give you an idea of the severity of the problem, I've set K3b to the task of copying the CD using the 'clone disc' setting and 5 read retries. My estimate for completion? 33 hours. Either my disc is completely and utterly ****ed (although it doesn't look that bad and I played the game off it yesterday without it even slowing down) or I'm doing something very wrong here.

Edit 2: After looking around, I'm now aware that this is in the wrong forum now now that the no-CD option is out. Do I make a new topic or what?
