Outcast black screen (NOT jedi outcas)

Hi i have just downloaded outcast burned it to 2 cd's and installed it but when i run it all i get is a black screen i can here the introduction and everything running but all i get is a black screen.

Win xp home sp2
amd athlon 64 bit 3600+
2 gig
256mb ati radion 9600 pro

Also although the introduction is in english i believe the game itself may be the spanish version is there a way to translate it to english like an english language pack,
