Diablo II LOD problems with patch installation

Hey..

This is my first time using this forum, and I will try to be as specific and precise, as I can .. ( so have patience with me )

I have downloaded and installed a no-cd-crack for my version of Battlefront, and that worked without problems.. So I have one success :)

Now I have updated my version of Diablo II LOD to version 1.11.
I have downloaded both no-cd-cracks for the version 1.11, and I have tried to install them both ( seperately of course, and after reinstalling the game ).

But I can't get any of them to work. When I click the icon, it says that it needs the cd in the drive in both cases..

Some information : I have my harddrive split in a C:drive and a D:drive, and I have installed a Safety-card, that re-creates the C:drive at each reeboot.
I install the games on the D:drive ..
But when I install, I log on as an administrator, so that disables the safety-card, and I dont think, it could cause a problem.
I didnt in Battlefront till example..

I need to play on Battlenet, and I dont know, if any of the two crack-files are better than the other.. Do you know that ??

Second question : I cannot open the dokument "deviance - MS-info dokument" in one of the cracks. What kind of programme do I need for that ??

And then : I have reinstalled Diablo II LOD from point zero several times to be sure that no crack-files could mess up the new attempt.
And let me try to tell, what I did with the no-cd-crack "No cd patch/multiplayer patch".
I reinstalled the game ( Full install all the way ). Then I downloaded the crack and opened it with Winace. Then I read the instruction following the patch.
I copyed the two files mentioned to the game folder ( d2xvideo.mpq and d2xmusic.mpq ). Then I updated to version 1.11. Then I copyed the two crack-files to the game-map. I restarted, and it didn't work.

I observed, that the icon "Dload, Diablo II Tsinghua University" was not in my original Game map before copying, and no icon looking as it at all. Should there be one ??
And the Game_crk file didn't ask to overwrite any existing file. So there was an original file named Game before copying, and both of them after copying.
Should any of these two files be renamed before copying ??

Well, this is as far as I have been able to manage it myself. If anyone have suggestions, to what I might do wrong or forget or simply don't know yet, I will be more than happy :)

And if you need more specific informations about anything, just ask, cause I'm really stuck ..

Last : is Winace or Winrar the better one or are they both allright..

Opening wth notepad should work fine, set text for the document in notepad to Terminal 9 pt

Copy all .mpq files from the cd's to your games install folder. Use the crack/fix I mentioned in link above.

Last : is Winace or Winrar the better one or are they both allright..

Neither is "better" so to speak, but Winrar is more widely used and known than Winace. Winace is actually a good program, just not used as much as Winrar or Winzip.

Could possibly be your language version of the game. Most of the fixes you will find are for the German or English versions. So they may not work with your version (not sure if you are using an English/USA copy of the game..

All your suggestions worked out well, so very very nice job.. :)

Now I can play without the disk, but one problem remains :

When I log into Battlenet before installing the crackfile, there are no problems.

When I log into Battlenet after copying the crackfile into the game, I get the message :
"Battlenet is unable to properly identify your application version"

Do you ( or anyone else ) know, why that could be ??

It is not the language-version-problem, you mentioned, because Denmark is a very small country :) , and the versions to buy here are English/American
for almost all PC-games, including Diablo II LOD..

I have tried to reinstall Diablo from scratch, but the problems mentioned in my last comment still exsists : when I try to connect to Battlenet it says :
"Battlenet is unable to properly identify your application version"

You have definetly update your game with the official patch update to v1.11 BEFORE you used the No-CD patch?

This is how I did :

I installed Full version of Diablo II, and full update of LOD, to get as many files as possible installed..

Then I copied all .mpq files from all cd-roms, both from the 3 Diablo II and the extension LOD cd-rom...

Perhaps I shoulden't copy all the mpq-files ?? One of the .mpq files from Diablo II is different from the original, when I copy it, but I tell it to overwrite anyway...

When I have copied all .mpq-files to the game-map, I put the extension CD-rom LOD in the pc and join battlenet. Then it updates automatically with the new 1.11 patch. And after that I can join Battlenet when I use the cd-rom..

Then I install the crack-file http://www.gameburnworld.com/dl/dl....FixedexeEng.rar
as suggested by Crypton..
And the crackfile enables me to start Diablo LOD without the cd..
So far so good..

But then, when I try to connect to battlenet, I recieve the message :
"Battlenet is unable to properly identify your application version"

I must do something wrong, but I can't figure out what ..

Does this work on Battlenet for any of you ??

Copy the mpq files from Diablo II, then install the LOD Expansion, then copy mpq from LOD and say yes to replace any files. Next install update patch to update the game.

Then backup the exe, then install the "fix"

Possible, you may have replaced something that was "newer" with an older version. The fix is possible that the version string was removed from the file? Not sure about that.

but, it is also possible that Battlenet also checks the CRC of the file to ensure it is origional.

If you have time, can you make 2 folders on your desktop. Name one Origional and name the other "fixed"

Put the origional exe in the origional folder and the fixed in the other, then add them to a zip or rar (drag both folders to the new archive)

Make sure you install as stated above first and update the game, then copy the old exe to folder 1, then so on.

I sent you a pm where to send it, I will fix the CRC on the fixed exe so you can see if it is in fact checking CRC when you login to BNet

Basically, I just want a copy of the exe's you are using, the origional and the "fixed" one, place them in seperate folders and name the folders something so I can know which is which.

Well here's the story :

I have a friend, who is much better at this than me...
( unfortunately he lives in another town )
He visited me while I was ill, and helped to solve the problem..

Here in Denmark, the nocdpatch

works with battlenet.. ( Battlenet Europe entrance )

I had tried this patch too several times, but I didn't know, that I had to double-left-click the Dload ikon first to activate the crack !!! ( Oh dear , I am a beginner and have a lot to learn :) )
My only excuse is, that it is not explained in the textfile that comes with the crack. It maybe too obvious ..

So now it works ..

I want to thank you all for assisting me with this, and I have a strong feeling, that I will be back soon with new questions ..

np, glad its sorted, normally if the fix comes with an exe, it is meant to be run prior to trying to run the game. (not all people put those details into the text file however)
