Please bare with me this is my first time. Anyway can anybody help with a problem I am having getting several NOCD patches for Battlefield Vietnam to work. I have tried several patches and they all state to drop the "bfvietnam.exe" in the Dir. and over ride the first file. I have done this and still get a message on launching the program about "insert the CD". This is the only program I am having problems with. Help.

What version of the game are you running? Have you updated it to the latest version via the patch released by the developer.
If not, it might be a good idea to. You also need to make sure you are using the correct fix for the version of the game you are running.
Ex. v.1.0 no-cd fix wont work for v.1.2
If you did not backup your "origional" game.exe you will need to reinstall, get the latest patch for the game after you install the game, apply the new patch, then grab the no-cd fix.
Get the latest patch > ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/bfv_v1_2.exe (v.1.20 Game Patch)
Then after applying the new patch to the game, backup the exe that will be replaced (in case you want to update the game again later)
Grab the latest fix,

or http://www.gameburnworld.com/dl/dl.php?file=BattlefieldVietnamv1.21SinglePlayerMultiplayerNoCDFixedexeModFixedEng.rar
Try the first one, if it does not work, try the next.
Also read here for further problems (if they exist after trying the above):

Thanks for the information. I am running ver 1.0 with a NOCD patch for 1.0 and have reinstalled and did a upgrade to ver 1.2 and then applied a NOCD crack for ver 1.2 and still the same issue. I will try the sites and the backing up of the file and see what happens.
Also does it matter on the NOCD patch if you installed the game in the Windows default "Program Files" Dir. I have mine in a "games" Dir. ?

does not matter where you install the game, the game gets its values of where the game is installed via the registry.

Thanks Crypton,
I did per your instructions. I upgraded to BFV v 1.2 and backed up the orginial file, and then applied the "bfvietnam.exe" and the "mod.dll" to the Mods Dir. Still same thing, it keeps asking to "insert the CD" Do not know what else to do.

Your game is installed from an original CD? Or a burnt/backup one?

The first time it was from a OEM CD. When I could not get the the cracks to work I returned the CD, but first burned a copy and since then have reinstalled with a burned copy. I think you are going to tell me that there is an issue with BFV not working with a burned copy, because that is what I'm starting to think.

The game may have not been copied correctly, there is that slim chance yes, so the game does not run even from the backup copy? You say you have returned the original CD to the shop but still use the backup CD, sorry but we don't support that here.

All right thanks guys for the feedback. Looks like I will uninstall the program since nothing seems to work.

I followed Crypton's instructions and works. I can play the game in the single player mode, but when I try to enter a server I get the following message "incorrect version", my game version is 1.2, but most of the servers runs with the 1.21, how can I get that version???

http://www.fileplanet.com/148135/140000/fileinfo/Battlefield-Vietnam-v1.2---v1.21-Patch (1.21 Patch, requires 1.2 patch to be already installed)
http://www.gameburnworld.com/dl/dl.php?file=BattlefieldVietnamv1.21SinglePlayerMultiplayerNoCDFixedexeModFixedEng.rar (1.21 NO-CD)
You will need to switch your "fixed" file of 1.2 back to the origional 1.2 then apply the "incremental" 1.21 patch that requires 1.2 already installed.
After updating from 1.2 to 1.21 then grab the 1.21 fixed no-cd files and apply the same method as my origional post, should work.

You need to use the latest version of WinRAR from http://www.rarsoft.com
Its always best to reboot your PC after installing it.

As far as I know the game fix will not work for multiplayer, I am not 100% on this though...

What do you mean the picture that was downloaded? You must use WinRAR to extract the files, you my have accidently changed your Windows settings to handle .rar files as images, which will obviously not work. Or maybe you are referring to the games icon that appears as the .exe for the game?
