battlefield 2 cd key problems

ok this is my deal, we bought battlefield 2 and special forces exp. pack for my computer and we played it for like 6 months or so and then we got a virus and we had to deep our memory and reformat my computer after loading all the required software i installed bf2 and bf2sf and updated them after that i brought op the game and it said no vaild cd key so yah this has happen before so i went to my bf2 game folder and when the the suport folder and reentered my cd key like i normally would and went back to the game and it will accept the cd key in the game and the reenter your cd key thing in my folder but it wont hold the cd key after i turn on the game, does anyone know my problems, or do i need to go to my registry to fix it or put in a command in my game consle?
if anyone has any info or ideas i would be very thankful

I honestly have no idea why it would not work if you did a clean install ?? It should work fine. May need to contact tech support for the game. They usually have a number or email to contact them.
