For best results buy Cedega v6.0 by Transgaming. Cedega is affordable to buy and has high compatibility (runs many many games), supports pixel shader 2.0, and it is updated constantly.
Wine is the free (open-sourced) alternative, but it doesn't have Cedega's high compatibility and features.

^^ What he said, Cedega uses Wine, but Cedega has built onto it to provide greater support. You can still get other games to work, but it will take a bit of things to get it working. Recommended as duffy said.

Guys... Cedega is an excellent program for running your Windows games on Linux. Not all games are supported, and people have problems even with those that are fully supported, but if you have some Windows games sitting around like I did once and don't want to install Windows, Cedega is an easier and all around better solution to the problem.

Might want to get Cedega instead. wine works on some older games, but when it comes to shaders, ect.. you will need the extended features of Cedega.

As well as that maybe im a a student, i barely have money as is than to buy programs. Specaily if u can get the free alternative sacrificing compatibility. oh anyone looking for a good site www.giveawayoftheday.com it is very useful.

True, but you only need to be a subscriber on the Cedega site which is only a few dollars a month. Anyhow, chances are any newer games you are wanting to play won't really work on Wine alone :S
www.giveawayoftheday.com it is very useful.
Yup, I visit there every so often, never know when you might find something useful :)

Seeming as I did not know where you are from before, it is not likely I had looked up the exchange rate for SA. ;)
At any rate, you can still try your luck with Wine, there may be something you can do to try to get it working. I used to have swveral links to linux sites that dealt with gaming, I do not have the links as of now, but, you can probably search for "Linux Game Wine" or other similar terms to find some help without needing Cedega :)
