Hi,
Just wondering if there is any word on a NO CD/DVD patch for Darkstar One V1.3??
Been waiting a LOOONG time now... Starting to wonder if it is even possible to provide one for this game since no one has yet.. perhaps they found a copy protection that really works and no one can crack it?
Anyhow does anyone know anything?

nah, DS1 was not a "big hit" often cracking groups will overlook smaller titles since they are working on much bigger releases. There was a fix for 1.0 when it came out, not sure if we will ever see a fix for 1.3, but atm, looks like we may not at all. Never know though m8, just check back every so often at www.gameburnword.com if one is released, it will be found there :)

That sucks. It probably would have been more popular if they had a working NO CD for the patch. It looks to be an excellent game but no one will ever know unless a no cd is released.
It is impossible to find a DVD version for sale it seems but apparently the copy protection even on the original causes problems. I bought the downloadable version only to find out it does not work at all because of that.

I have the original DVD release. The crack for that worked fine. When no crack was released for v1.3, I've already finished the game. It's not even close to X3, which was rereleased with the Starforce protection removed and offered a patch which adds new missions and ships and removes the protection for the Starforce protected release.
Darkstar One is very arcade, very repetitive, hell, is worse than Freelancer in the end....

Agree somewhat, though, Freelancer was pretty good really. Love X3 and Freelancer both, DS1 imo was a sad attempt to = Freelancer in a sense.

Dunno. Ascaron keeps throwing strange titles to customers. Interesting ideas, poorly implemented. Darkstar One is such a title.
Tortuga: Two Treasures promised much and got out as another boring game, worse than Legend of Jack Sparrow.
So far their flag titles are Patrician, Port Royale and Sacred, as far I'm concerned.
Oh, yes... Darkstar One released the modding tools but no mods are avdertised on their forums. Freelancer and X3 have loads of mods and they will stand for a good deal of time just because of the modding community.

yup, agree completly, some of their ideas are great, they just fail to "bring them to life" so to speak. Biggest fallback of DS1 was the inability to model ships into the game (not to mention you only have 1 choice of ship to begin with) Makes modding the game almost pointless to some extent.

Hi,
Jus noticed someone placed a new No DVD patch for Darkstar V1.3 both here and on gamecopyworld as well..
Tried it and it does not work... So don't bother wasting time on it. Tried it with clean install, patch install etc etc etc...
Anyhow... still would be nice to have a working version of this game... someday..

It's for the russian version of Darkstar One. Something that is specified at gamecopyworld. The people who submitted admited that won't work on any other version but russian.
So if you have german, english or any other release you are out of luck.

Russian v.1.3 NODVD works for English, but the other protection on the game is not "fixed". (US/UK)
DS1 (US/UK) uses Tages and a "Custom Protection", the exe itself the main protection is removed, but the other "Custom Protection" that is in other files is not "fixed". Seems to act like Fade protection, allows you to play, but you get weird events that happen ingame, such as screen shaking, ect..
Not sure if a fix will be made, not really played DS1 in a while except to see if the Russian fix worked for DS1 as the one on GCWorld was noted "working with US versions. But that is not entirely true.
