Sims 2 no dvd crack error??

Hi i have the sims 2 dvd and the installation and everything completed fine. II went to http://www.gameburnworld.com/dl/dl.php?file=Sims2v1.0FixedexeDVDEng.rar and i put the exe into the Sims 2 directory but when I run it I get a blank error message that is labelled the Sims 2. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?? Other people had this problem that I talked to on another forum, and one guy was able to use the crack to play the game but he said he needed to mount the image of the dvd using a daemon tools program. Even if i were able to achieve this, i would be happy...

any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you replace the original exe with the No-DVD one?

I've installed the dvd version of the sims 2, then I put the crack in the same directory, so it has overwritten the original file, well then..

I tried to start the game but I've got the folowing error/message:
(it was in dutch so i don't know if I'm saying this right in english):

cd/dvd emulation software found. Shut down all cd/dvd emulation software and restart the game :confused:

But what do they mean by cd/dvd emulation software, because I've nothing running at the time i think that can be called "cd/dvd emulation software"

What can I do??

Do you have CloneCD/Alcohol 120%/Daemon Tools installed? I am guessing so, and they don't even need to be running to get the error message.

If you have CloneCD installed (as stated does not need to be running) as Dufman said, that could be the problem.

Also if you are running CloneCD Read this, which was on the Daemon-Tools website forums.:

"Disable CloneCD's Hide CD-R media function (via CloneCD Tray) - you MUST disable this function, it's enabled even with CloneCD Tray disabled."

Sumo28, could you post the location of the guide? I can't seem to locate it?

I've installed the no-DVD exe to replace the original, removed any virtual
drives and it STILL asks for the disk.... any ideas

This is of course from a clean and legal install, I have the DVD's, just don't want to have to tot them out every time as with several kids using the computer, they tend to get beat up very quick......
