Hey. I was wondering if someone can help me out with my problem. I just recently bought the game and installed it on my computer without any problems during installation. The problem I am having is that the game keeps crashing on the first mission. Right after that psychic guy hits you with the board and tells you about his/the little girl's memories, you wake up and have to regroup with your team. As I'm heading back, the game keeps crashing at the same point every time in the first hallway when you head back into the building. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, can you tell me how to fix it? I'm using the No-CD crack found on GameBurnWorld.com. I've also tried updating to version 1.01, but it still crashes at the exact same point. Unfortunately I only have a dial-up connection so I can't afford to download the full patch to 1.08 (588 MB) and then try it again. If someone knows of a better version, or a different crack other than the one included on GameBurnWorld.com, please let me know. I don't think my computer is the problem because I just bought a new one and it far exceeds the requirements of the game (listed below). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here are the specs of my new beast:

Motherboard: Intel D965RYCK
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4 Ghz dual core, 4 MB L2 cache)
Memory: 1 GB DDR2 667 Mhz (Corsair)
Video: Onboard Intel Extreme Graphics GMA 3000 -- 128 MB (increased to 256 MB through BIOS)
Sound: Onboard 6.1
Harddisk: Hitachi 160 GB SATA (8 MB cache)
Optical drives: Asus 16x DVD+-RW, LG 48x CD-ROM
Monitor: Hitachi 21"

Your best bet would be to use a file resume program such as Getright and download the 588 patch. I know it is large and on dial up will take ages, but the patch fixes alot of issues related with crashes and certain gfx cards such as the onboard intel you are using.

Your only other option would be to buy a new addon video card such as a decent ATI or nVidia card.

*sigh* Well, that sucks for me. I've already started downloading the file even before posting--just in case. Hmmm...let me check, only 20 hours left at the current rate. (The longest it said was 65 hours once). I wish I could buy a new graphics card, but I kinda ran out of money after I got my comp up to the current specs. Plus, since Direct X 10 is coming out with Vista soon, I think I'll just wait till ATI and nVidia release cheaper DX10 compatible cards. I think that'll be a smarter move. Until then... thank God for GetRight! Bye!

yup, I am thinking the same thing, I probably wont upgrade for another year or so. At least not to try running anything extremly new. Very expensive habit computers are becoming.

If they would focus more on making 2-3 cards every couple of years and utilize the features ect.. on the current ones it would be better.

Seems now they make something new and never really develop anything that is specifically for those cards, they just move on and make a completly new card ect.. While the speed ect.. of new hardware is great, it really sucks having to upgrade 2 times a year if you want to keep up to date.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've barely had my comp for 2 months now and it already seems out-of-date. Sucks! I hate that feeling, though I knew it was coming sooner or later when I bought my pc. ;^) Oh well, good things come to those who wait, or so they say, so hopefully we'll cash in with DX10.
