Double Click? You should not be double clicking anything to replace a file.

Simply drag the new "fixed" file from the archive (rar / zip) into the folder where the old non fixed version exists and choose yes to overwrite, then run game from the shortcuts it created during install.

I may be mis-interpreting what your saying, but sounds to me like your trying to replace the file atm and unsure how.

If im wrong please correct me.

Yeh agree, confusing, please provide some more info on exactly what you are trying to do.

If you are trying to get the No-CD to work, then use WinRAR from http://www.rarsoft.com and extract the No-CD .exe file to the games directory/folder (where you installed the game) replacing the original exe file with the No-CD one.

Are you using the same version fix for the version of the game?

If you have applied an update patch for the game, be sure to use the same version fixed exe. Example, if you update the game to the v.1.61b, be sure to also apply the v.1.61b no-cd found on this page: http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/battlefield1942.shtml

Update Patch can be found here:

Dumb question alert!

I copied the .exe file from the no-CD patch into the BF folder and, when I clicked on the new .exe, I was still asked for the disk; do I need to extract ALL the files from the RAR folder into the BF folder for it to work? There's a BF1942.org file and a Mods folder, too.

Thanks!

Yes you need all the files. You can also make a backup caopy from your original disc, as the BF1942 has Safedisc3 as protection. Use Alcohol 120% or Clone CD for that. Both of them are excellent for doing backup copies for old games.

Thanks, wolfsrain! I extracted all the files to my BF1942 folder (after moving the originals to a separate folder so I could easily replace them if there was a problem) and the game plays flawlessly without the CD!

XForsakenX, I tried looking at the NFO file that was included in the download and I got a message saying it couldn't be opened because it was corrupt or unreadable (on the other hand, I think I've gotten that message whenever I've tried to look at that file type; I just get the error message and a box that displays all my system info) and there was no readme doc.

For future reference, set any nfo to be opened with the notepad. Extract the nfo file, right click on it, select open with, select notebad, select always open this type of file with, apply. Than, any nfo file should be opened properly with the Notepad. Idiotical Windows, what can I say:p
