If the patch update was just released then it may take a few days for a fix to be released.

Are you using expansion packs as well such as SoU and Hou?

Try this however..

strange, I installed NWN just to play around with the update, NWN has not ever been installed on this machine before (well it has but that was some 5434545 XP wipe/reinstalls ago)

Updated the game using the download 1.66 then ran the live update to get the latest 8074 build. And to my surprise, mine is running with no cd at all. Yanked the CD from the drive to get the error message, but no message lol.

Restarted the game, still runs with no cd. Restarted Windows, still runs with no cd.

It was known before that the game contained SecuROM, however, from the looks of things they removed the protection from the game since then.

*Update*
both expansion packs are the same as well, SecuROM has been removed and the game does not ask for the CD to play.

Unfortunantly i only have the first one,but plan on getting the other 2 soon.Max level of 20 sux lol.

If i would of known it would of ran without the cd,i'd never monkey with the exe.I think all games should go this route though. If somebody has a valid cd-key,it proves that they own the game, copy protection is useless since there will always be people hacking them.Pretty soon people will make starforce easier to crack aswell.I hate playing from cd cause i switch games so much.

I agree, running with a CD constantly puts alot of stress as well as wear and tear on the drive. But so you know, the expansions are the same, no protection anymore on the 1.66.8074 build so they all run with no cd as long as your cdkey is valid then your good to go.
