Faulting application nfsmw.exe,
version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

sorry already suggested
[edit]
have you tried install AutoPatcher for Windows XP SP2 ?
also for me installing DirectX SDK December 2006 solved many problems
[edit2]
hmx_ryan, from the error info you provide none can find what is causing the crash. a more detailed info is needed. I highly recommend you to install all current hotfixes with AutoPatcher for Windows XP SP2, grab it from: http://www.autopatcher.com/downloads/
Download November 2006 Full release + December 2006 Update + January 2007 Update

check if you disabled DEP, because DEP is causing a lot of trouble

DEP = Data Execution Prevention
You can find it in Performance Options in System Properties
If not disabled DEP should be enabled for essential Windows programs or services
