First time it sounds like either an internet fart from you to the gs servers, or if your using a firewall or router it could possibly be interfering with your connection. (try turning off the firewall) (if using a router, you may need to forward ports)
For the second, sounds like something may be wrong with the installation, or, you may need to update DirectX version to the latest. Check microsoft.com/directx for latest.
Also, be sure your other drivers are updated. Such as Video and Sound, as well as chipset such as VIA Chipset 4in1 Drivers. You will need to check what chipset your motherboard uses. You can use programs such as Fresh Diagnose to gather this info. http://www.freshdevices.com/freshdiag.html
It sounds like a driver issue to be honest or incorrect settings such as Video. Be sure you try to run the game setup as Direct3D or OpenGL, sometimes it is common to get errors such as the one you show from faulty video drivers. try reinstalling them as the game could be trying to run in Software mode instead of Direct3D or OpenGL. If all else fails, try uninstalling the game, reinstalling drivers, reboot pc in between each driver install, run scandisk, defrag, install game and patch again. Perhaps it is a simple system error.
Also, what Operating System are you using?? Windows XP or?

I have updated all driver, using Win Xp Pro and DirectX version is latest.
Before (smth about 1 year ago) I only installed game and 348patch and everything was fine.

You tried redownloading the new patch? and from a different source (different site/servers)
It may be the update you downloaded is either corrupt or, the patch does not go with that game demo you have. It may be possible you have a diff language release of the game (example UK) and the game regardless of it being "English" may require a US patch for example.

Honestly do not know then. I do not usually worry about patches for demos as I just try a demo briefly to see if I like the game or if I see it may be something I will get bored with quickly.
you may check the offical support site for it and see if there is any FaQ info on it.
