I already have the disk version and have the v1.61 patch. I downloaded no disk v1.61 and clicked on the exe file and got a similar message related to binkw32.dll:
"This application has failed to start because binkw32.dll was not found..."
What does this mean?

You can get the file from here - http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?binkw32 .

I have the file, just didn't place the exe file in the correct location--ended up looking for the binkw in the wrong place. But i know where to go now if i ever need these files.
Thanks for the link!

Maybe my link in the previous post helps. Do you have v1.61 installed?

I'm having the same problem with the "_binksetvolume@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library binkw32.dll" even after downloading the file placed a few posts earlier. I am using the original version of the game I believe, but I'm not quite sure. Its been awhile since i played and i've misplaced my original cd. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have the latest DirectX installed (Bink requires DirectDraw) Get it from http://www.microsoft.com/directx
(Note that even though you may hae DX9.0c, there are "Monthly" builds which fix common errors in the DX API.
At the very least, install the DirectX version that was provided on the game disc.
If that fails, browse to the game directory, find the bink32.dll and copy it to
for Win NT, 2000, and XP c:\windows\system32\
For Win9X ME c:\windows\system\
Then try the game again.
Also note that the game will require the Bink32.dll in which it originally came with, if you replaced it with another version, chances are you will still have the issue.

For those anyone with my same problem.
Step 1: From Fresh installation. Download Patch of Civ 4, it can be found at the Civ 4 Website.
Step 2: Download Cracks then you are done.

About 2 years ago I tryed to see if I could play civilization 4 online. I was totally wrong and now it says that BOOST_PYTHON-VC71-MT-1_32.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application might fix the problem. But I don't know how to do this. If anyone has any information please help.

What did you install the game from? Original CD/DVD?

So, I decided that it would be fun to start playing Civ again, but I seem to have misplaced my CDs. I downloaded the no Cd thing and I got the error message "This application has failed to start because binkw32.dll was not found...". I downloaded blinkw32 from the link earlier in the thread, but I have no idea what to do with it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You need to put it into the games directory/folder (where you installed the game).

frist off make sure civ is updated to newest version wich is 1.7.4 then try puting the fixed exe. 1.7.4 in the right place (i useally rename the orginal exe like add .org on the end of the name ) , and it should work.

Install order:
a. Civ4
b. patch 1.74
c. Civ4: War
d. patch 2.13
e. Civ: BTS
f. patch 3.19
g. Civ4: Colonization
h. patch 1.01
Patch 3.19 removes the protection for CIv4, patch 1.01 removes the protection for Civ4: Colonization.
