I cannot run it because of the Starforce protection ?

If you own the original game, and it won't install/play, then I would be lodging a complaint to the manufacturor about it.

As Duff stated I would check the developers support. Usually they have an alternative way of activating and playing the game for users with incompatible hardware such as older model DVD-Rom drives.
