When I tried to install the battle for middle earth 2 game, the game installs but then freezes around 68%, under a file called support\ea help\"." .
Does anyone have a similar problem? I have tried installing under safe mode, as well as getting a new cd, but they don't seem to work.

My battle for middle earth game also faced a similar problem, but it could install before.

Unsure atm, but you may want to check to make sure you CD/DVD Drives are clean (get a CD-Rom Drive Cleaner Kit)

run a defrag on windows, and clean temp files such as clearing Internet Explorer temps files as well as Windows Temp, there is a good program called Crap Cleaner (CCleaner) that can do this for you.

However, probably not the problem, but could be your drive starting to fail, do you happen to have an extra IDE Cable? That would be the wide cable that plugs into the back of your CD/DVD Drive. If not you can purchase one for fairly cheap and try replacing it, it is possible for one to have a short in it that can cause sprartic errors when trying to pass data over the wires.

You can also try getting a IDE to USB Converter and pluggin your CD/DVD Drive into it so you can plug it into a USB Port which could also rule out a failing IDE Cable.

If not the cable, the motherboard IDE Controller can be failing, but most likely there is hardware in your system failing.
