I have heard about this happening, could be a in-game protection trigger of some sort?

Actually within 3 min 40 sec it will be "defeated".
This is because your file, "game2.dat" in game folder,
which has your pc's system information(getsysteminfo() library) and cd key information mixed,
is not created properly.

There was "lotrbfme_inst.exe" file at BfME 1 original game
in order to create the LOTRBFMe.dat file again without re-installing game.
However, BfME2 does not have the execution file like "lotrbfme2_inst.exe" to re-create game2.dat file.
I DO want this execution file badly so that I can change cd key easily without reinstalling.

Anyone can make the execution file to create game2.dat file?

Can you create?
If you do, let me know, or post here.
then we'll find somewhere to post the file.
Good luck.:)

I have a similar problem i think, with tycoon city NY, but in my case it is not matter of time it is a matter of event that happens inside the game "Unlocking Soho District".

I guess Reloaded can make the execution file to recreate game2.dat file :D

Sinister
07-03-2006, 06:43 AM
Can you ask Reloaded to make one ?

Razor
07-03-2006, 09:07 PM

Sinister

ihatecdrom

your positive this could fix the issue though?
Positive.
If someone can see what the original BfME 1's "lotrbfme_inst.exe" is doing,
then he can create .exe file for BfME2.

Wow, wow, wow... 23 posts in a thread, I'd almost think that's a hot subject! Let's clear some things up...

1) This is a known protection trigger from the first game.
2) Nobody here can "ask Reloaded to make the fix". There is hardly any chance any warez group could be visiting this forum.
3) All you have to do is wait until one of the moderators or even the users posts a working fix.
4) Just to finish number 3... DO NOT BUMP THIS TOPIC unless you have something useful to add, such a workaround. If more posts like "Can somebody help?" "I really hope so." "I think it will work." "I can't wait, can someone reply?" are posted, this topic and any new one on this subject will be closed until a working solution is found.

Sinister, Stop talking about version 5 or 9 on this forum.:(
I bought this game which comes with 6 CdROMs.
Whenever I install this game with CDRoms, my other game like Battlefield 2 is crashing
also IDE hard drives become PIO mode from UDMA and become very slow.
Now I found different way to install this game without those problems
and I need the game2.dat re-creating command.
I just don't want this thread to be closed.

-Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Application Data\My Battle for Middle-earth(tm) II Files

-Then, open 'Options' (Open with notepad/wordpad)

-Now, you will see a whole lot of writing

-Look at the last one(TimesInGame) and change the number after the [=] to 1

-After playing about 2 times, change it back to 1

-This should work for you cause it did for me.

i reinstalled--THIS WORKS
Try this link: game2.dat (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=04UHF65P)
You just gotta wait 45sec. for it to load

P.S.- Keep a second copy since i can stop working again(Copy it back again to the install dir.)
-Also, Keep the copy of the game2 you already have just in case

1. download the file-game2.dat (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=04UHF65P) (should be a .rar file)
2. Extract it with -WinRar (http://dw.com.com/redir?pid=10446177&merid=113677&mfgid=113677&ltype=dl_dlnow&lop=link&edId=3&siteId=4&oId=3040-2250_4-10446177&ontId=2250_4&dlrs=1&destUrl=http://www.download.com%2F3001-2250_4-10446177.html)
3. You will get the game2.dat
4. Copy it
5. Paste it onto the game dir. (default-C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth (tm) II)
6. Try the game ;)

Razor
