Total Overdose!! help

i recently downloaded the no-dvd patch for total overdose, from gamecopyworld released by reloaded,,,but couldnt make it work....
as soon as i click on TOD.exe, i get a blank screen and the game stops responding.... i tried it even on my friends,,,pc and the same thing.....

just blank screen and then the game freezes..... no responce,,then i have 2 close the game by task manager/..

help needed..

there is no other fix 2 try,,,just teh reloaded crack....

and my version of the game is v1.0.

the no-cd patch is also specified as v1.0...and as such there is no other

update patch released for the game...

While it may or may not be the issue, codecs are one of the leading causes of blank screens when playing games.

Great, but codecs can get messed up and 10 still uses 9 series codecs, and reinstalling usually fixes them, make sure to install VCM version. btw, I recommened uninstalling 10 and reverting back to 9, 10 is known to cause problems with games and 9 is not much different from 10.

Just tried the No-Dvd Fix from Gameburn and it works just fine...Nice game by the way...

no-dvd fix from both the gamecopy and gameburn r the same,,,

both r reloaded release,,,, having same date nd time of creation...

both r same...

but dunno wot hap[....

after installing WM9Codecs.exe

t he game atleast started,,, now i can c the video starting....

but still have prob, as soon as the video starts, and plays 4 2 sec.

visualstudio debugger starts and the game hangs????

y is that so???

Definately codec issues if it works now but still crashes, have you tried uninstalling WMP 10? and tried uninstalling other codecs you may have such as DivX ect ?

And you should be installing WM9Codecs_VCM.exe not WM9Codecs.exe

And you may also want to disable MS Vis Studio from loading things on startup, such as the debugging catcher, while it may not really be the prob, it can be..

Nope it works just fine....And i have WM8Codecs and it is the same...I think it isn't the codecs...Try the latest card graphics drivers....

m8, something you need to understand, one machine can have issues with codecs that another machine does not.

Dont know if its the same thing but fable and quake 4 wouldnt run for me until I updated my sound card drivers.

possible, anything is possible with PC to be honest, I have seen some weird issues where the same game would not run on my other system but ran fine on this one (they are both idfentical btw) Turned out to be the order in which the codecs priorities where set.

i formatted my system 2day.....

and updated my grafix drivers 2 the latest.....

installed vcm codecs also...

and havent installed VStudio

now

the results are negative pals....

i can c the instial video running (ppl dancing and all that) ,,, but after 3-5

seconds of video running

the game exits,,, and i get an error message sayin,

"TOD.exe has encountered an error and will now close."

when i click on the original TOD.exe, teh game doesnt even runs..

and i directly get the error message...

with reloaded patched exe, atleast teh game starts......

i noticed 1 more thing.......

when the game starts, and i click enter key quickly,,,,

i get 2 the page that says press enter to continue.

but the fonts that r displayed, are all broken....

y is that so??????

i cant read it,,,,,,

Silly question but when was the last time you ran a Defrag/Scandisk/ChkDsk?

You may want to uninstall the game, run defrag, scandisk (with fix errors)

Then try installing the game. You may also want to try a tool such as System Mechanic to find and fix problems, there could be something simple in the registry that is corrupt causing weird behavior.

also, check your RAM, there are several free tools around to test your ram memory in DOS mode.

Do you have any temperature programs installed to see the temp of your hard drives, CPU, ect.. ?

Such as Motherboard Monitor

PC Wizard 2006 also has a section that shows info on temp.

Last but not least, What Video card and What Drivers are you using? Exact Driver version, if your using a driver from somewhere such as TweaksRUs.com please state so as this is crucial that I know that info as well.

and as for my videocard, i have Geforce 2 with Nvidia Forceware 4 Xp v81.98

and my friend has ATI 9600SE, adn drivers dont know....

the game at least starts at my place... but at my friends place it directly

shows the error message....

i m having same problem also with I-Ninja.

in I-Ninja, i just c the loading screen 1ce,,,and then

get the error message.....

y is that so..in both the games,,, when i tried 2 fnd the similarities in the 2

games,,, i could only find binkw32.dll

both uses bink video ....

would this b of any help???

Norton sucks, lose it.. And no it is not my biased opinion.. You are better off using something like System Mechanic or Tuneup Utilities to find/fix problems on your PC.

I still say it is a video/driver or Codec issue, since it keeps pointing back to Codecs such as Bink, ect.. honestly, I would try running a program to repair your codecs or change their priorities. Try uninstalling all codecs and install ONLY Media Series 9 VCM not the standard media series.

DirectShow Filter Manager is useful for this.

There is a program you can find on the DivX site called "BigFix" not the same Bigfix that provides updates and security fixes for Windows, but a Bigfix for fixing Codec issues, it will restore default values for the Codecs on your system such as which ones whsould be priortized first.

in another forum, i read that some ppl were having some probs with the new

nvidia drivers,,, in some programs,,,,, basically the 8x series drivers,,,

so goin 2 backdraft the drivers 2 7x series and check out whether the game

works,, or not....

but will only get time 2 backdraft this sunday....... now lets hope this works.

Doesn't matter, me and the above party solved the issue in a PM, all is forgotten, so it is no longer locked. Yes, I recommend 77.77 or older to be honest, some of the newer drivers are flaky with older cards.

Mainly the nVidia 6 Series or higher benefit more from the new drivers.

So, definately worth a shot, just let us know,. and I will have to remind myself when I make the new help post for protections, DT4, ect.. I will need to include this info as well.

I don't know what else to suggest to you change your Graphics card to something decent or add some extra Memory ram!!!!It must be a Technical prolem as you have said to us that you have done even a format and that didn't help you....
