Hello

Ive been trying to figure out how im suppost to set up my speakers so that the mic jack on the front of my main speaker will work with all 4 of my speakers outputting also. I have 4 speakers and a main speker sub woofer thing with all volume controls and a head phone and mic jack. All 4 speakers plug into the main speaker and there are 2 cords coming out of the main speaker (one green and one pink) going into my computer. When i plug the 2 cords into the black and green jacks on my sound card all 4 of my speakers work but when i plug my mic in to the main speaker it doesnt work through the computer(because no mic cord is pluged into the mic jack on sound card). Then if i plug the one pink cord from the main speaker into the mic jack on my sound card and the other green cord into the one jack on my sound card the mic will work through my computer from the main speaker but only the 2 front speakers have output. Is there a way i can have my mic and all four speakers working with just the two cords coming out of my speaker.

thanx

OK from what I follow, you can get all 4 speakers working from the sound card jack, but not from the PC Box/Motherboard jack? It may be a simple case the default PC Box/Motherboard setup doesn't handle 4 speakers, do you have the motherboard manual, it will mot likely have the system specs in there of what you can run in relation to multimedia. Also what are your system specs just to be sure?

This one's probably for Crypton, he's the walking talking computer technician around here ;-)

That wont work unless you have a mic jack to plug into the card itself.

If you have your speaker plugged in, there should be a mic jack on the sound card in the rear, just plug the mic into the mic jack on the card. And the jack on your speakers is probably a headphone jack, it would be kinda odd to have a mic jack on the speakers itself.

As far as the speakers, do you have a 5.1 sound card? If so, it should have 2 jacks for speakers and 1 jack for a mic.

Normally, on the sound card, you should have 1 green (front speakers) 1 black (rear speakers) and 1 redish/pink (microphone)

Or, if you are looking at the rear of the computer,

5.1 setup
O O O O O

You better bet would be to pickup a USB Headset. Reason being is you wont have to mess with your speaker setup, and you can have only the chat sound coming into your headset and the speakers will continue to play the sound of your games ect.. while leaving your headset with clear sound since only the chat program will be using it. (You have to tell the program to use the USB Headset) and you can set it in windows control panel sound with a usb headset as well.

ya i have a card that suports all my speakers. And its the sub woof thing with all the volume and bass controls, and where all my speakers plug into that has a headphone and mic jack on it. I diddnt want to plug my mic into the sound card because its a mic and hed phon in one so i want to plug it into my main thing. But i like your idea about the usb mic and ill do that.

thanx again

aye np m8, I origionally went to USB Headset due to similar problems, I run 5.1 speakers as well, and it also has a headset jack on it, but its just not efficient and causes the sound to only work through the headset that way.

With USB Headset it will be detected as a seperate sound card so your able to direct an application such as SkyPE and TeamSpeak to use the USB Sound.

It works great as well, I recommend either Plantronics or Logitech headset, they are great, make sure to get one with Automatic Noise Cancelling and Noise Filtering. Best quality as far as a chat experience goes.
